US fires
more missiles than Israel to protect Israel from Iranian attacks: US newspaper
Washington
(Web Desk) During the recent war with Iran, the United States used more than
half of its “THAAD” anti-missile system to defend Israel.
According to
the American newspaper, the United States used more than two hundred “THAAD”
interceptor missiles to destroy missiles coming towards Israel. In addition,
more than one hundred “SMT” and “SM-6” interceptor missiles were also fired.
The report
cited Defense Department figures that Israel itself used less than one hundred
“Arrow” interceptor missiles and about nine “David Sling” system missiles to
defend itself.
According to
the report, the United States used a much larger number of interceptor missiles
to defend Israel than the Israeli army.
A US
official told the American newspaper that if war breaks out with Iran again,
the United States may have to use more interceptor missiles to defend Israel,
because Israel has sent some of its missile defense systems for repairs.
The report
quoted a US official as saying, "Israel is not fully capable of fighting
and winning a war on its own, but people generally don't pay attention to this
aspect."
