Global Impact on Education

The effects of the global impact on the education sector will be huge. It can take years to repair the damage. Corona is estimated to cost the world economy 8 850,000 over the next two years, and more than 35 million people will fall into extreme poverty.

But Corona's blow to the education sector does not seem to be compensating. According to a June 28, 2020, UNESCO report, all schools and colleges in more than 114 countries are closed. Hundreds of millions of students around the world are affected.

In India too, the education system of schools and colleges has come to a complete standstill for the last four months. Yes, absolutely. Because of the 320 million students in India who are benefiting from online classes, the number can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Online classes have drawn a digital gulf. You can estimate that there are only two states in India where more than 40% of the internet is available in rural areas. In the rest of the states, only 10 to 20 percent of the villages have people using the Internet.

Now consider how many of these houses will be such that even the cost of daily meals is hard to come by. Where will these people get the cost of smartphones and the internet? He is also in this difficult time when he is not able to manage two meals a day.

2017-18 NSSO research shows that most boys in the village drop out of school in the meantime due to poverty. It is not difficult to estimate how much this number will increase due to the lockdown. When schools open, there will be countless children who will be forced to drop out of school simply because of poverty. There will also be a large number of children whose homes do not appear to be poor. The education situation is deteriorating.

The experience of online classes is brand new in India. Nothing can be said yet about how useful it is. Yes, so much so that teachers and schools are in touch with their students. The average minded child is taking online classes just to register his attendance. Teachers say children's questions are rare in online classes. Sometimes a child's net speed is low and sometimes the teacher's voice does not reach the children properly. And it wastes a lot of time. Spending hours in front of a mobile phone can be very stressful for children. Children who are not able to take online classes are also having a negative effect on their minds and they are feeling inferior. A ninth-grade girl in Kerala committed suicide simply because she did not have a smartphone or internet access to take online classes.

Millions and millions of people are employed in private schools and colleges. Due to their closure, the Guardian is not paying their children's fees regularly. Countless teachers working in private schools now face the problem of two-time bread. There are many schools that are in rented buildings. The owners of these buildings are now responding to them for not paying rent on time. As a result, countless schools in India are on the verge of closure.

This situation is getting worse day by day. Surprisingly, no solution is being found at the government level to address this issue. On the one hand, there is a deficit in education and on the other hand, millions and crores of people are losing their jobs. That is why schools in countries like Australia and Sweden were not closed even during the lockdown in view of this huge loss. Schools are now open in Denmark as a precaution.

It is difficult to say what the consequences will be if schools are opened with strict rules like social distance, masks, and odd and even. But now the government has to move to a two-pronged decision. He has to take a strong step now or the situation could turn out to be very dangerous in the days to come.
