Israeli forces beat, sexually assaulted and raped Gaza flotilla workers, heart-wrenching revelation
The
activists of the “Gaza Flotilla” (aid convoy) stopped by Israeli forces in
international waters have been deported, and the released activists have made
serious allegations of severe torture and ill-treatment against the Israeli
administration during their detention.
According to
foreign media reports, the management of the Global Resistance Flotilla says
that at least 15 people were subjected to sexual violence (including rape).
In addition,
the detainees were shot with rubber bullets at close range, their bones were
broken, and they were subjected to severe beatings.
French
activist Maryam Hadjal said that she was slapped, touched inappropriately, kneed
on various parts of her body, and her hair was pulled out.
Pakistani
welfare activist Saad Eidi alleged that she was subjected to severe torture
while being detained for 4 days.
On the other
hand, the Israeli Prison Service and the army have completely denied all
allegations, saying that all claims are “false and untrue.”
Meanwhile,
Canada, Germany and Spain have confirmed the mistreatment of their citizens and
expressed concern.
According to
foreign media, a video posted on social media by Israeli Minister Itmar
Ben-Gwer, in which prisoners with their hands tied were humiliated, was widely
criticized internationally. The United States, Britain, France, Spain, Ireland
and other countries called the act insulting and unacceptable.
Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also criticized his minister’s action, saying
that it was against Israeli values.
Pakistan’s
Foreign Ministry condemned the incident and demanded the immediate release of
the detained activists.
It should be
noted that the convoy included 430 volunteers from more than 40 countries,
whose aim was to deliver food, baby milk and medical aid to the people of Gaza.
Israel
called the convoy a "publicity stunt" in the interests of Hamas and a
violation of the Gaza naval blockade. According to the United Nations, the
humanitarian crisis in Gaza has intensified, where a lack of basic services is
causing serious health problems.
