US, Iran agree on draft peace deal, announcement likely within next 24 ho urs

Washington (Web Desk) The announcement of the finalization of the peace agreement between the United States and Iran to end the ongoing fighting on all fronts is expected by Sunday afternoon.

The American newspaper "The Washington Times" has reported, citing sources, that the draft agreement was agreed on Saturday morning and could be announced within the next 24 hours.

According to the newspaper, the parties involved in the talks, including Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, US Vice President J. DeVries, special envoy Steve Wittkoff and President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, have approved the draft, while the draft peace agreement has been sent to the leadership of both countries for final approval.

If the agreement is successful, the ceasefire that has been in place for the past six weeks could turn into a permanent peace, although President Trump has indicated that the possibility of new attacks may remain.

According to the newspaper, the details of the potential ceasefire agreement are still unclear. It is also unclear how key points of contention, including the future of Iran's nuclear program and demands for sanctions relief, will be resolved. The two sides will also have to agree on a mechanism for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Details of the potential Iran-US deal

A US official told Axios that the memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the US will be for 60 days and can be extended by agreement between the two sides.

According to the report, the agreement will open the Strait of Hormuz without charging any tolls to cargo ships.

In return, the US will lift the blockade of Iranian ports and allow it to sell oil freely during this period, exempt from sanctions.

According to Axios, Iran will never seek to build a nuclear weapon and will negotiate to eliminate its stockpile of enriched uranium.

Two sources familiar with the matter told Axios that Iran has verbally stated through mediators that it is willing to make concessions regarding the suspension of uranium enrichment and the stockpile of nuclear material.
