In Saudi
Arabia, work on solar energy is paving the way for environmentally friendly
energy and a sustainable future in the kingdom's energy sector.
According to
Arab News, solar energy containers installed in the kingdom for the Dakar Rally
this year in Neum have boosted the sector.
Saudi solar
energy firm Desert Technologies teamed up with French company GreenCorp
Connection to install energy containers called 'Sahara' for the driver of a car
rally in Neum, generating 62 kilowatts of electricity.
According to
Arab News, this project will not only create jobs but also open up marketing
channels for solar panels made in Saudi Arabia.
Khalid Ahmad
Sharbatli, Executive Partner, Desert Technologies, said that under the
Kingdom's Vision 2030, engineers will have unprecedented job opportunities
while environment-friendly and alternative energy will benefit everyone.
He said that
the solar panels manufactured at the Jeddah factory have been delivered to
homes, schools, mosques, and warehouses and will soon help reduce the cost of
electricity for companies and general consumers across the kingdom.
Unlike
diesel generators, solar panels, which operate very quietly, provide
electricity at Neom day and night. Sahara Solar Containers were fitted with 20-
and 40-foot panels with batteries attached for storage.
Dr. Moseed Al Asaf, Vice Chairman of Desert Technologies, said that this sector is very safe and environmentally friendly for generating electricity. Solar energy is a step towards a sustainable industry in Saudi Arabia and the local industry will compete regionally.
