FIFA World Cup: France's Mbappe breaks several historical records
France star
Kylian Mbappe has set another record at the FIFA World Cup, breaking several
historic records.
Mbappe
scored two goals in the 0-3 pre-quarterfinal win over Sweden, making him the
second-highest goalscorer in World Cup history.
The
27-year-old Mbappe's total World Cup goals tally has reached 18, overtaking
Germany's Miroslav Klose.
He has also
become the top scorer for a European player in the FIFA World Cup, while
overall he is only one goal behind Lionel Messi's 19 goals.
In addition,
his total contribution to the tournament, including goals and assists, has
reached 22, which has also left Brazilian great Pele behind, while Messi tops
the list with 27 contributions.
Mbappe also
broke Brazil's Ronaldo Nazario's all-time record with his 10th World Cup goal
in the knockout stage.
He is now
the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup knockout stage.
Mbappe has
six goals and two assists in the current tournament, which also puts him in the
lead in the race for the Golden Boot.
His
brilliant partnership with Ousmane Dembele is also proving to be the most
