FIFA World Cup: France's Mbappe breaks several historical records

France star Kylian Mbappe has set another record at the FIFA World Cup, breaking several historic records.

Mbappe scored two goals in the 0-3 pre-quarterfinal win over Sweden, making him the second-highest goalscorer in World Cup history.

The 27-year-old Mbappe's total World Cup goals tally has reached 18, overtaking Germany's Miroslav Klose.

He has also become the top scorer for a European player in the FIFA World Cup, while overall he is only one goal behind Lionel Messi's 19 goals.

In addition, his total contribution to the tournament, including goals and assists, has reached 22, which has also left Brazilian great Pele behind, while Messi tops the list with 27 contributions.

Mbappe also broke Brazil's Ronaldo Nazario's all-time record with his 10th World Cup goal in the knockout stage.

He is now the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup knockout stage.

Mbappe has six goals and two assists in the current tournament, which also puts him in the lead in the race for the Golden Boot.

His brilliant partnership with Ousmane Dembele is also proving to be the most successful duo of this World Cup.
