Morocco dominated most of the thrilling FIFA World Cup clash in Monterrey with several dangerous attacks, but Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen kept the Netherlands at bay.

After a goalless first half, the Netherlands took the lead on a quick counter-attack in the 72nd minute when Liverpool forward Cody Khakpo sent the ball into the net with a powerful shot.

Khakpo had recently decided to stay with the team despite the tragic death of her unborn child.

Just when it looked like the Netherlands would win, Isa Diop leveled the match early in extra time with a superb header and the match went into extra time.

Both teams had chances in the extra time but neither could score the decisive goal, after which the winner was decided on a penalty shootout.

Three Netherlands players missed their kicks while Ismail Sabari from Morocco scored the decisive penalty to give his team a historic 2-3 victory.
