Argentina qualified for the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup by defeating Egypt 2-3 in the pre-quarter-finals.

The match played in Atlanta, USA, on Tuesday was very interesting and thrilling. Despite going down by two goals, the Argentine players continued to attack the Egyptian goal post and won the knockout match by three goals to two at the end of the game.

With this victory, Argentina secured its place in the top eight (quarter-finals) stage of the World Cup, where it will face the winner of the match between Switzerland and Colombia.

Football fans were overjoyed at Argentina's victory, while Egypt's team was eliminated from the tournament despite its excellent performance.

After winning the match, captain Lionel Messi was overwhelmed and hugged his team players and congratulated them. Later, his teammates also lifted their captain on their shoulders and threw him in the air and celebrated the victory.

Egypt played an aggressive game at the beginning of the match and in the 15th minute, Yasser Ibrahim scored a brilliant header from Marwan Attiya's corner to give his team a 0-1 lead.

Argentina was awarded a penalty in the 21st minute, but captain Lionel Messi could not take advantage of the opportunity. Egyptian goalkeeper Mustafa Shobir made a great save to save the penalty and maintain his team's lead.

Egypt further consolidated its lead in the second half. In the 67th minute, Mustafa Zico scored a goal from a pass by Hossam Hassan to make it 0-2. Earlier, another Egyptian goal was also disallowed by VAR as a foul.



Despite the two-goal deficit, Argentina did not give up and in the 79th minute, Cristian Romero scored a header from a brilliant assist by Lionel Messi to make it 1-

 

Just four minutes later, in the 83rd minute, Lionel Messi headed in a pass from Gonzalo Montiel to level the score at 2-2 and also made up for a penalty missed in the first half.

With the match drawing to a close in regulation time, Enzo Fernandez scored the decisive goal with a stunning header from Lautaro Martinez's cross in the second minute (90+2) of injury time, giving Argentina a memorable 2-3 victory.

Egypt also appealed for penalties in the final minutes, but the referee ruled that play should continue on both occasions.



With this victory, defending champions Argentina advanced to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup, where they will face the winner of the match between Switzerland and Colombia.
