FIFA World Cup: Iran sets new conditions for playing matches in the United States
Iran has set
a new condition for playing matches in the United States in the 2026 FIFA World
Cup
According to
the International News Agency, Iran has warned that if controversial flags are
waved or slogans against the Iranian team are raised in the Football World Cup,
the match will be stopped.
Iranian
Sports Minister Ahmad Doniya Mali says that we have informed FIFA about this.
He said that
we have been assured that no disruptive incident will occur in the stadium
during the match against Egypt.
It should be
noted that during the FIFA Congress in Vancouver in April, protesters demanded
a ban on Iran from the tournament.
The
protesters said that this team represents the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps
rather than the Iranian people.
The Iranian
team has also faced other challenges, including the withdrawal of tickets
reserved for Iranian fans a few days ago.
The Iranian
team is currently training in Tijuana, Mexico and will be able to enter the
United States before their match and will have to return to Mexico after
playing the match.
Iran, who
are in Group G, will begin their campaign against New Zealand on June 15 in Los
Angeles.
They will
then face Belgium at the same venue and Egypt in Seattle on June 26.
