FIFA World Cup: Messi ready to represent Argentina in sixth consecutive World Cup

Defending champions Argentina have announced their squad for the FIFA World Cup.

According to details, superstar Lionel Messi has been included in Argentina's 26-member squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Messi will lead the team as captain in this tournament and this will be the sixth World Cup of his career.

The 39-year-old Messi won his third world title in the 2022 Qatar World Cup by leading Argentina to a thrilling final victory over France.

Now he will join Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the few players to have the honor of playing the World Cup six times.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has selected a balanced squad of experienced and young players.

Emiliano Martinez, Leandro Martinez, Cristian Romero, Alexis McAllister and Enzo Fernandez are also part of the team.

Messi has played 198 matches for Argentina so far and will complete 200 international matches if he participates in the upcoming friendlies against Honduras and Iceland. It should be noted that Argentina is in Group J and will begin its World Cup journey against Algeria while the other matches will be against Austria and Jordan.
