champions Argentina have announced their squad for the FIFA World Cup.
According to
details, superstar Lionel Messi has been included in Argentina's 26-member
squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Messi will
lead the team as captain in this tournament and this will be the sixth World
Cup of his career.
The
39-year-old Messi won his third world title in the 2022 Qatar World Cup by
leading Argentina to a thrilling final victory over France.
Now he will
join Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the few players to have the honor
of playing the World Cup six times.
Argentina
coach Lionel Scaloni has selected a balanced squad of experienced and young
players.
Emiliano
Martinez, Leandro Martinez, Cristian Romero, Alexis McAllister and Enzo
Fernandez are also part of the team.
Messi has
played 198 matches for Argentina so far and will complete 200 international
matches if he participates in the upcoming friendlies against Honduras and
Iceland. It should be noted that Argentina is in Group J and will begin its
