Diplomatic activities intensify after Islamabad dialogue, hope for agreement remains, says US official
A few days
ago, the ceasefire talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad ended
without any agreement, but a US official has revealed that diplomatic
activities are ongoing between the two sides behind the scenes and both sides
are serious about an agreement.
According to
US media, this statement by the official is unusual because in the current
scenario, there is no possibility of a meeting between the US and Iran again.
It should be
noted that in order to prevent the escalating war in the region from spreading,
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Mohammad Ashraf
agreed to a two-week ceasefire and invited the US and Iran to talks in
Islamabad as a mediator.
The US
delegation in the historic talks in Islamabad was led by US Vice President JD
Vance, as well as Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
While the
Iranian delegation, led by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer
Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and other senior Iranian officials were
part of the negotiating delegation.
Deputy Prime
Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said regarding the talks held in the
federal capital that this negotiation session will always be remembered in the
history of Pakistan, which lasted for a long 24 hours.
He said that
he, along with Field Marshal Asim Munir, played a mediating role in the serious
and fruitful negotiations between the parties consisting of several rounds,
which are being viewed with appreciation all over the world.
On the other
hand, the Iranian and American delegations welcomed Pakistan’s ceasefire efforts
and offer to host peace talks.
