India and Israel agree that 'there is no place for terrorism in the world': Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Israel and India agree that “there is no place for terrorism in the world.”

According to the AFP news agency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed a two-day visit to Israel aimed at strengthening ties.

This is Modi’s second visit to Israel as Prime Minister since assuming power in 2014.

The Indian Prime Minister's recent visit to Israel has been criticized domestically.

Modi said at a press conference in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that "India and Israel are clear that there is no place in the world for terrorism, in any form. We will stand shoulder to shoulder in opposing it. We will always oppose it in the future."

He added that humanity should never be a victim of conflict.

Narendra Modi spoke of future cooperation between Israel and India in several areas, including technology and energy.

The Indian Prime Minister said that "together we will move towards joint development, joint production, and technology transfer."

He said that "at the same time, we will further expand our cooperation in areas such as civil nuclear energy and space."

Netanyahu described Modi's visit as "tremendous" and "extraordinary results." He also spoke of jointly developing innovative products between the two countries.

The Israeli prime minister said, “The future belongs to those who innovate, and Israel and India are working towards new inventions.”

He added, “We are proud of our ancient civilizations, very proud of our past. We are fully committed to taking the future into our own hands, and together we can do it better.”

The two countries signed memorandums of understanding in areas such as education, geophysical exploration and artificial intelligence at the press conference.

‘We feel your pain’

On Wednesday, Modi, addressing lawmakers in the Israeli parliament, said that his country stood ‘firmly’ with Israel after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

“On behalf of the people of India, I offer my condolences to every family that was torn apart by the barbaric and terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7,” Modi said. “We feel your pain, we share your grief. India stands with Israel with full conviction in this moment and beyond,” he said.
