The documentary examines Stockton Rush’s personality and behavior in detail, with some describing him as a ‘borderline psychopath’.

The film highlights the technical flaws and controversial decisions that led to the tragedy through the testimonies of former employees, audio recordings, and videos.

According to Netflix, ‘Titan: The Oceangate Disaster’ will premiere on June 6 at the Tribeca Festival, after which the film will be available on Netflix worldwide from June 11.

What was the Titan submarine incident?

On June 19, 2023, a 21-foot small submarine going to see the remains of the Titanic went into the deep sea. An hour and 45 minutes after going into the sea, the team lost all contact with the submarine, which was two miles (about four kilometers) below the surface of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The submarine called Titan is operated by the US-based company Oceangate Expeditions, according to whose specifications it was designed to remain underwater for 96 hours.

The submarine was carrying Engro Corporation Vice Chairman and Pakistani businessman Prince Dawood, his 19-year-old son Suleiman, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French explorer Paul Henri Nargeault and Ocean Gate CEO Stockton Rush.

The US Coast Guard launched a rescue operation to search for the submarine, which lasted for 5 days. Five days later, the US Coast Guard confirmed that some debris from the Titanic had been found on the seabed during the search for the missing submarine Titan.

After which the submarine's owner, Ocean Gate, confirmed the death of all five people on board, including two Pakistanis.
