Liberal Party wins in Canadian elections, 'opposition to Trump won

CanadianPrime Minister Mark Carney's Liberal Party has won a landslide victory in the federal election, defying US President Donald Trump's threats of a trade war and a rapprochement.

The rival Conservatives, meanwhile, have conceded defeat and congratulated the Liberals on their move towards a "minority government".

According to the Associated Press, the Liberal Party is likely to win 343 more seats than the Conservatives, according to preliminary results from Monday's election, but it is not yet clear whether it will win a clear majority that would enable it to pass legislation without any help.

Politically, the Liberal Party was in a very weak position until the US president attacked Canada's economy and tried to threaten its sovereignty.

Donald Trump's suggestion that Canada should become the 51st state of the United States angered Canadians and fueled a nationalist movement that helped the Liberals change the narrative and secure a fourth term.

Conservative Party leader and opposition leader Pierre-Paul Yves had hoped the election would be a referendum on former President Justin Trudeau, whose popularity had plummeted in the final days of his presidency as food and housing prices soared.

President Trump was elected in the final days of Justin Trudeau's presidency, and when Justin Trudeau resigned and Mark Carney emerged as the Liberal Party's candidate for prime minister, Trump began to speak openly about Canada.

President Trump did not shy away from trolling Canada on election day, writing on social media that he was actually talking about Canada in light of the political situation.

He reiterated that Canada should become the 51st state of the United States.

According to experts, this was a claim that Canadian citizens took as an insult.

Donald Trump also claimed that ‘America subsidizes Canada and until it becomes a state, it is nothing.’

Pierre Poilier was criticized for not taking a strong stand against President Trump, but on election day he responded to Trump with these words.

"President Trump should stay out of our elections, only the Canadian people will decide the future of the country with their ballot papers."

He further wrote that "Canada will always be free and independent and we will never become the 51st state."

Political experts say that until Trump was elected president for the second time, it seemed that the Liberals would lose the election, however, Trump's threats changed the situation and in a sense, they won the election.

‘Congratulations to Mark Carney on forming a minority government’

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poli Ayo has congratulated the Liberal Party.

According to Reuters, Pierre Poli Ayo said in an address to his supporters that the Canadian people have voted the Liberal Party to victory by a very small majority, but I still want to congratulate Mark Carney on moving towards forming a ‘minority government’.

According to him, ‘We will have many opportunities to debate and disagree, but tonight we are gathered only as Canadians.’

He continued, saying that whether it is the issue of tariffs or any other irresponsible action by President Trump, Canada will always be our priority.
