Applicant
seeking to go to the US has his visa rejected in just 40 seconds
An Indian
national who wanted to go to the US had his dreams shattered in just 40 seconds
when the US embassy rejected his visa immediately after hearing the answers to
the questions asked of him.
According to
NDTV, after the visa was rejected, the Indian national shared the incident and
his experience on the social media platform ‘Reddit’.
He said that
he had applied for a ‘B1B2’ visa (this visa is usually for tourism and short
business visits) at the US embassy in New Delhi.
The Indian
citizen said, “I answered the three questions asked by the US embassy staff very
honestly.”
The Indian
citizen, with the username Nobody01810, asked social media users in his post
that I want to understand where I went wrong and how can my chances of going to
the US increase in the future?
According to
Reddit, the Indian citizen had planned a two-week trip to the US in which he
would visit Florida, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Center and
some other important places of local interest.
He further
said in his post that “during the visa interview, the embassy staff asked me
three questions.”
The first
question was why I wanted to visit the US? The second question was whether I
had ever been outside India before? And the third question was whether I had
any friends or relatives living in the US?
According to
the applicant, he answered all three questions honestly, stating that he wanted
to vacation in Florida, that he had no prior experience of traveling abroad,
and that he had a girlfriend in the United States. However, the US visa officer
was not satisfied with my answers and rejected my visa in less than a minute.
Reddit users
immediately started commenting on his post, explaining the reasons for his visa
rejection. One user wrote, "Unfortunately, you have not traveled to any
country before, especially Western countries." Apart from this, the
presence of your girlfriend in the US was considered a major reason for your
visit.
According to
another user, ‘You told the truth about your girlfriend’s presence in the US,
but the visa officer thinks you want to stay there illegally.’
A third user
wrote, ‘It was difficult for you to prove that you will not stay in the US
after the visa expires.’
‘Your travel
history is also weak, and you also have a girlfriend there who you may not have
met yet.’
Another user
said, ‘I think you did not tell about your girlfriend in the first question and
then when you were asked about family and friends, you mentioned them.’
‘Apart from
this, you have never been outside India and this travel history of yours could also
be a reason for the visa rejection.’
