According to Iran's official media, at least 103 people have been killed and hundreds injured as a result of two explosions at the fourth-anniversary celebration of former General Qassem Soleimani in Kerman.

According to local media, both explosions took place near the Sahib-ul-Zaman Mosque in the Golzar area of the southern city of Kerman.

The deputy governor of Kerman says that it was a terrorist attack.

Videos from the scene show bodies on the road and the movement of ambulances.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast. Over the years, Arab separatist groups, the so-called Islamic State, and Sunni jihadist organizations have claimed responsibility for attacks on Iranian security forces and shrines.

It should be remembered that in January 2020, General Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in an airstrike by American forces in Iraq.

On the orders of US President Donald Trump, 62-year-old Qassem Soleimani was targeted in an airstrike on his car at the Baghdad airport. Iraqi commanders of Iran-backed militias were also present in the car with them

Wednesday's blasts came as a leader of the Iran-backed group Hamas was killed in an Israeli drone strike in Lebanon.

The Iranian Red Crescent says at least one aid worker sent to help the injured was killed in the second blast, who had earlier rushed to the scene after the first blast.

According to BBC Farsi, Shahab Salehi, head of Kerman Medical Emergency Center, said that it was 'two bomb blasts'. While the mayor of Kerman, Saeed Sherbaf, says that the two explosions took place 10 minutes apart.

According to news agency Tasnim, the bombs were placed in two bags and detonated remotely.

Officials immediately asked people at the site to vacate the area as soon as possible. Security officials are investigating the situation.

The head of the Red Crescent says that the sound of the explosion was terrible and they are facing difficulties in the rescue operations due to the huge crowd at the event and the blocked roads.
