Biden vows to create 'new America'
Newly elected
US President Joe Biden has vowed to create a new America.
Taking the oath of office in the Oval Office of the White House on
January 20, 2021, he will be an experienced president. This new (but
experienced) president of the United States has lifted the ban on Muslims.
He signed a presidential decree lifting discriminatory restrictions on entry into the
The United States so that citizens of countries such as Iran and Yemen can now travel to the United States on visas.
It was a very
stupid ban. The reason given was that the ban would prevent Muslim extremists
from coming to the United States. A few weeks ago, local American terrorists
stormed the US Senate building. Now it seems that the story of 'sanctions on
Muslims are over forever.
The removal
of "sanctions on Muslims" does not mean that the United States is
opening its doors to the world. Although Muslims have been freed from the ban,
a new ban has been imposed.
The fact is
that people living in South Africa who are not US citizens can no longer
come to the United States. This is a ban that was unimaginable until a few
years ago. In addition, citizens of the United Kingdom, Brazil, and some other
countries have been banned. (These bans have been imposed before, but were
lifted by former President Trump in the last days of his presidency).
In the light
of these restrictions, future travel restrictions can be outlined. Citizens of
countries where the corona vaccine and the virus do not have the facilities to
prevent it, and where the existing type of virus cannot be eradicated with the
current vaccine, may face travel restrictions in the future. Even after the
availability of the vaccine, its potential and the rate of spread of the virus
in countries will continue to hamper movement.
The Biden administration has taken another initial step by sending a new immigration bill
to Congress. According to the bill, the new government is reluctant to bring
large-scale manpower from other countries to the United States. The Trump
administration also opposed the large-scale H-1B holdings by some technology
companies. In order to control this process, they put obstacles in its way,
sometimes banning it completely and sometimes lifting the ban.
The question
is, should foreigners get jobs that are actually for middle-class Americans?
This question is as difficult for the Biden administration as it was for the
Trump administration.
Perhaps that is why
Biden's immigration policy is focused on providing legal protection to more
than 10 million illegal immigrants. The Biden administration will provide these
individuals with an easy way to obtain amnesty and citizenship. In addition, a
permanent solution will be found for those brought to the United States
illegally as children. Trump's ban on asylum applications and detention of
children from their parents is no longer legal.
Biden's The United States will no longer be the United States where the world's most
capable people will easily emigrate and acquire citizenship. The United States currently
faces two major challenges, such as the virus and the resulting economic
downturn. Travel restrictions can help prevent the spread of the virus and
address the health challenges posed by open borders.
Similarly,
the lack of jobs will mean that it will be harder for immigrants and foreigners
to find jobs. Amnesty for illegal immigrants will increase the number of
American citizens by tens of millions and make visa visas for immigrants
longer. This will increase the difficulties for those who want to come to The United States legally instead of extending their visa.
The Biden administration has made the United States a part of the Paris Agreement and the
World Health Organization. Such measures are intended to reintroduce the United
States into the liberal world order. However, the imposition of new travel
restrictions and the retention of some old restrictions on foreign workers
indicate that the United States will no longer keep its doors open to the
brightest.
The lifting
of sanctions on Muslims as well as the end of Trump's statement on Islamophobia
is certainly good news, but Joe Biden's views will differ from those of The United States. The world has shrunk because of the plague. This means that
there is no past that can be restored. It seems that the boundaries of this new
world will be even tougher than before.
Today, people
are accessing each other online without spreading the virus and using more
resources. It is possible that most of the intellectual work is done through
this medium. This means that in the future, there will be very few
opportunities to migrate based on one's abilities and intelligence.
Pakistan too
must now prepare for a world in which ideas can be exchanged online. Although
the travel ban imposed due to terrorism has been lifted, the travel ban imposed
by Corona will remain in place.
On such an occasion, the Pakistani economy cannot be dependent on remittances. In view of
the sanctions imposed by the Gulf countries and the United States, The government of Pakistan should introduce facilities to work away from the
office. That way, engineers and computer scientists who were once sent to Gulf
and Western countries could work away from the office without worrying about
visa restrictions.
The world is
changing now. The world before Corona is gone forever. Anyone who adapts
quickly to this new world will be able to benefit the most from this new world.
