Spain have reached the World Cup final after defeating France in the semi-finals, despite being considered favourites.

Spain's success has also sparked debate on social media, with users praising Spain's organised and effective performance while also criticising France's disappointing performance.

In the match played in the US city of Dallas, Texas, Spain's team neutralized an attacking France team, maintained control of the match, and secured their place in Sunday's final thanks to goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro.

Midway through the first half, Oyarzabal gave his team the lead with a penalty. The penalty was awarded when France's left-back Lucas Digne collided with Lamine Yamal while trying to clear the ball, which the referee awarded.

On the other hand, some users attributed Spain's success to its overall superiority. Pakistani journalist Ajmal Jami wrote that Spain, four-time European champions and 2010 world champions, have made it to the World Cup final with a 2-0 victory over France, "a victory they achieved in a magnificent way."

Ajmal Jami said that he would have liked to see Spain face England in the final.
