War and Peace
On the world stage, often unexpected events, unexpected
events and suddenly prominent figures become the cause of changing the course
of history. As unexpected as the US-Iran war was, Pakistan’s role as a mediator
and host of negotiations in its ceasefire was equally unexpected. Our ancestors
did not even imagine that the eyes of the whole world would be focused on
Islamabad.
Pakistan's
effort
During the
war, Pakistan constantly tried to prevent the flames of war from spreading
further and to bring about some form of reconciliation. Two weeks ago,
Pakistan, together with the foreign ministers of Pakistan's effortTurkey, Egypt
and Saudi Arabia, tried to give a chance to back-channel diplomacy.
China’s indirect support was also involved throughout this
process. The 15-day ceasefire was announced by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif
through a tweet, the US and Iran confirmed it and praised Pakistan. This was a
historic moment, Pakistan, which its neighboring country and a few other
countries always tried to associate with diplomatic isolation and terrorism,
played a key role in paving the way for peace between the world's superpower, a
strong power in the region and other countries in the region. As a Pakistani,
this was a great moment of pride for the country, nation and people.
For the first time, in accordance with the terms of the
ceasefire, between the United States and Iran. Indirect (or perhaps direct
negotiations) have emerged. Indirect negotiations have been held in the past as
well, but for the first time, the Vice President led a delegation from the
United States.
From these negotiations, it should be hoped that peace will
find a way and there will be a way to put the genie of war back in the bottle.
During this time, according to the person, the leadership of Islamabad and Pakistan
was mentioned and praised in the media and diplomatic circles around the world.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan received telephone calls from most of the
countries of the world, diplomatic support was expressed, and in cooling the
flames of war, the Pakistani Prime Minister, the Army Chief, the Foreign
Minister and their team made this delicate challenge fruitful in extremely
difficult, sensitive and complex circumstances. Pakistani leadership is being
praised and described all over the world for this.
The Iran-US war has plunged the Middle East into an unwanted
security crisis and panic. Fear reigns in the Gulf states. For Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait, Qatar and other neighboring countries, this war has become a compulsion
of “no going, no coming, no staying”.
The entire economy of these countries was dependent on the
free flow of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz and other sea routes,
which were disrupted due to the war. Along with this, their oil and gas
installations were also hit by the war.
Regional security, general peace and security, and the
environment for economic development in the Middle East have been severely
damaged due to this war for the past several decades. The entire model of the
Middle East economy and economic development has been shattered.
Unfortunately, while the whole world is praising Pakistan for
this diplomatic success, the BJP government in our neighboring country India
seems to be suffering from a strange jealousy and mental retardation. The
extent to which the Indian media is suffering from insanity in its hostility
towards Pakistan is reflected in the numerous video clips that are going viral
on the media.
Well-known anchors have resorted to extremely vulgar and
market-oriented discourse in their hostility towards Pakistan, but on the other
hand, India's own astute politician Shashi Tharoor and a few other realists
have shown the BJP government a mirror.
Shashi Tharoor says that Pakistan has proven to be a very
responsible state, nuclear neighbors should appreciate every effort for peace.
Shashi Tharoor is one of the few intellectuals and politicians who still prefer
reason over prejudice. The voice of intellectuals like Ghosh Shashi Tharoor and
others like him is as valuable as a parrot in India’s writing room.
In this entire crisis, Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations have
undergone a new test. The historical and brotherly relationship that exists
between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has acted as a shield in the current
situation.
Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia in terms of
security and the recent defense agreement have given more confidence to the
relationship. Saudi Arabia has expressed complete confidence in Pakistan’s
conciliatory role, which is a sign that Pakistan’s foreign policy is working
under a solid and far-reaching agenda.
The presence and leadership of the NATO alliance at the
global level has been the hallmark of America’s global military power. The NATO
alliance was badly damaged during the Iran war. There have been deep cracks in
trust between the United States and its NATO allies, which may increase further
with time.
The experiences of the Russia-Ukraine war, the Pakistan-India
war last year, and the recent US-Iran war have introduced new battlefield
conditions. Traditional military forces, air and ground forces, and defense
equipment have taken their place, but new forms of warfare, equipped with
long-range missiles, drones, and cyber technology, have been introduced.
The use of AI has made wars more horrific and supersonic. The
world has undoubtedly reached a new level of excitement and chaos. In such a
situation, the need for a new world order based on a global framework of mutual
survival and peace has increased more than ever.
Humans and major powers usually learn from the coercion of
history. The US-Iran war has severely damaged the giant image of America's
defense reputation. Europe remained a passive spectator on the sidelines and
was reluctant to participate in America's war.
