Telegram founder announces distribution of assets among his mothan 100 children
Pavel Durov,
the founder and CEO of the popular messaging app Telegram based in Dubai, has
revealed that after his death, all his wealth will be distributed among his
more than 100 children.
According to
CNN, in a detailed interview with the French magazine ‘Le Point’, 40-year-old
Russian-born billionaire and technology expert Pavel Durov said that he
recently prepared his will and wants to give equal rights to all his children,
whether they are born naturally or through sperm donation.
According to
Pavel Durov, he has six children from different women, while dozens of other
children have been born through sperm donation in 15 years, which are included
in his inheritance.
He said,
“These are all my children and they will all have equal rights, I don’t want
them to fight among themselves after my death.”
The Telegram
founder has previously announced on social media that he is the father of
multiple children and a doctor had advised him that thanks to his “high-quality
donated material,” it was his “civic duty” to have children.
According to
Bloomberg, Pavel Durov's wealth is around $13.9 billion, however, he called
these figures fictitious and said, "Since I am not selling Telegram, this
wealth is not important to me, I do not have this money in my bank account, my
wealth is small and that too was not obtained from Telegram but from investing
in Bitcoin in 2013." He further said, "My children will not
immediately become the owners of this wealth. I have decided that from today,
for the next 30 years, my children will not be able to access my wealth. I want
them to live like ordinary people, build themselves, learn to trust, create
something and not depend on a bank account."
When asked
why he prepared this will so quickly, Pavel Durov said in response that ‘My
work is full of risks, defending freedom of expression makes you enemies in
powerful states, I want to protect both my children and my company Telegram, I
want Telegram to always be faithful to the values that I defend.’
It should be
noted that Telegram is an app with more than a billion monthly users worldwide
and is known for its high level of encryption and low surveillance of user
activities.
Pavel Durov
was also arrested in Paris last year. He was charged with running a platform
involved in serious charges such as money laundering, drug trafficking and
child pornography.
However, he
has called these allegations baseless and said that ‘just because criminals use
our messaging platform, it does not mean that those who run it are criminals.
