The US
ambassador approved to investigate the Afghan war. The US Senate has
passed a defense bill calling for the establishment of an independent
commission to investigate the Afghan war and its powers to deal with
terrorism in the region, including Pakistan.
According to Dawn, the bill
proposes that a 16-member commission investigate the war in Afghanistan
report within three years, with Republicans and Democrats electing members on
an equal footing.
Since 2001, current and
former members of Congress, as well as senators and defense officials who have
shaped US policy on Afghanistan, have not been included in the commission.
An earlier bill called for
an investigation into Pakistan's role in the Afghan war, but the bill was
rejected.
However, the commission
observed how countries in the region had an impact on the Afghan war and what
role they could play in bringing about a peaceful end to the Afghan war.
The bill summarizes that the
panel will "review" the 20-year war and prepare a
"detailed" report on US counterterrorism capabilities in Pakistan and
Afghanistan.
The commission will assess
military equipment left in Afghanistan after the US withdrawal and plan to
evacuate US citizens and "Afghan allies."
The 7 770 billion defense
bill for the United States was passed by a majority of 88 members, with 11
members opposing it.
More than 80 percent of
members supported the bill, with Republicans outnumbering Democrats, although
Democrats outnumber Democrats in the House.
The United States has
focused on China, with 71
billion in the bill being spent on the Pacific Determination Initiative, and
has pledged support from Taiwan.
Remember that Beijing claims
that Taiwan is its territory and that one day it can seize it by force.
The Defense Bill also bans
the US Department of Defense from obtaining products manufactured by Chinese
workers in the Xinjiang region.
The bill sets aside 3 3
trillion for aid measures to support Ukraine's armed forces, 4 4 billion for
European defense measures, and 1.5 1.5 billion for ballistic security. Will be
spent in cooperation.
