The
world's most popular TikToker with millions of followers was deported from the
US after his arrest.
Khabe Lame,
the world's most popular TikToker with millions of followers, has voluntarily
left the United States after being detained by authorities.
According to
the Associated Press news agency, Khabe Lame was detained in the famous city of
Las Vegas, Nevada, for overstaying his visa.
The most
popular TikToker was born in the African country of Senegal and also holds
Italian citizenship.
A spokesman
for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that after being detained
at Harry Reid International Airport, he was allowed to leave the country
without being ordered deported.
The
spokesman said that Khabe Lame arrived in the United States on April 30 and
overstayed his visa.
The
Associated Press contacted Khabe Lame by email for comment on his detention,
but he has not yet responded.
Khabe Lame’s
detention in the United States and voluntary deportation come amid President
Donald Trump’s escalating crackdown on illegal immigrants.
At the
moment, a large-scale crackdown on immigrants in the two U.S. states of
California and Texas has angered local populations, and thousands of citizens
have taken to the streets to criticize government policy.
The protests
have turned violent, with the National Guard now being deployed in Texas after
California.
The
voluntary repatriation permit from the United States benefits those who want to
return legally. If a foreign national has a deportation order on their U.S.
immigration record, they cannot re-enter the country for 10 years.
The
25-year-old TikToker gained global fame during the COVID-19 pandemic when he
would make his case in his videos without saying a single word.
He has more
than 162 million followers on TikTok.
Khabe Lame
signed a long-term deal with designer brand Hugo Boss in 2022. In January, he
was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
He attended
the Met Gala in New York City a few days after arriving in the United States
last month.
